What is reference?<br />Reference is address of cell. By which we can uniquely identify a cell. Actually address and reference two are same but difference is that during formula or function, when we use address then this address is called reference.<br />How many types of reference and name?<br />According to reference format: -<br />There are four (4) types of reference <br />1. Relative reference like A1,B6,A9 etc. (Default reference).<br />2. Absolute reference like $A$1, $B$6, $A$9 etc. (Fixed reference)<br />3. Mixed reference like $A1, A$1 , $B6, B$6 etc. (Relative + Absolute)<br />4. Circular Reference (iteration calculation/ loop) <br />According to reference style:-<br />1. A1 (General / By default)<br />2. R1C1 (Active from option, R for Row and C for Column)<br /><br />What is Relative reference?<br />When we drag or paste a reference column wise then reference will be changed according to column name and When we drag or paste a reference row wise then reference will be changed according to row no. This is default reference.<br />What is Absolute reference?<br />Absolute reference means Fixed reference. When a reference never changes if we drag or paste column or row wise . This reference is called Absolute reference. <br />We use $ sign before row and column. Or we use F4 function key to fixed a address .<br />What is Mixed Address?<br />When we use both Relative and Absolute reference in a reference. This reference is called Mixed reference.
